| 1920 | Imported art pigment and materials replace traditional materials. Oil painting techniques are employed, and paintings are produced largely for the tourist market. | | | | 1920 | 1920-1930: Easel paintings of religious as well as genre subject-matter start appearing in private homes, coffeehouses and Teje Bet. In visual arts, three-dimensional representations produced by ""Seltune"" modern artists as opposed to the two- dimensional representation by the old masters of Christian Ethiopian paintings, are considered modern. | | | | 1926 | 1926-1935: Artists Tessema Eshete, Agegnehu Engeda, Abebe Wolde Giorgis, Zerihun Dominiko, and Tadege Defersa return from extended study in Europe.
